Ransom Newton is my ancestor as well. I've always heard the stories about Ransom and all the lore that goes along with his being a warlock. My aunties were the Newton sisters who were his great, great nieces.

You did a great job on the story and I hope you will continue to write. You have a gift, even for the macabre!

Look into the story of M**** Newton as well. (I don't wish to put the real name online as I believe it may unintentionally hurt the family as many of the close relatives are still alive that experienced this incident) She was a very sad person who "killed herself" by pulling a shotgun down off a mantle piece and accidentally pulling the trigger. Kind of makes one wonder how easy the trigger pull could have been to accidentally pull it while at the same time aiming it at her head at point blank range?!? It was said her boyfriend who came to break up with her that day was really the reason the gun was so perfectly aimed. Who really knows for sure? CSI (Miami, New York, Special Victims Unit hadn't come about quite as yet) so we will really never know for certain what the real story was. Could it be this family is doomed to sadness and stories that one will never know the answers to?

Thank you again, it's a story well told.

Most sincerely,
ES

Freakin' fantastic! The imagery is so vividly wicked. I love the whole idea of having a corpse's head inching closer to his hands within the coffin.

Cool story, Jamie, and well written. That's some ancestor...I think that I would be moving a good distance from his grave (better safe than sorry).

My favorite part was how he rose at the very begining, but the rest of the story was sick and entertaining too. Good job.
