THE MASQUERADE BALL: By Barb Chandler

“May I have the honor of this dance?” A man wearing a tuxedo and mask stood in front of Jackie.

“Yes.” Jackie grasped the stranger’s gloved hand.

They walked to the dance floor. As soon as the orchestra started to play, the stranger bowed, took Jackie in his arms, and started to dance. They continued to dance until it was time to remove their masks. When her partner saw what was beneath Jackie’s mask, he fainted.

The startled onlookers gasped and watched in horror as the three-eyed creature carried the motionless man out the door.
